About Us
The Empire is a historic retirement residence in North Bay that feels warm, welcoming, and community-oriented. Residents enjoy beautiful gardens, a sunny outdoor patio, a library, a theatre, and quiet spaces like the chapel. The building’s elegant character comes from its early life as the Empire Hotel, built in 1927 and once known as one of the most luxurious hotels in northern Ontario. After a full restoration, it reopened in 1997 as a retirement residence, now offering 157 suites and amenities that blend heritage charm with modern comfort.
Levels of Care
Independent Living Independent Living gives residents the freedom to enjoy life at their own pace, with hospitality services such as meals, activities, and housekeeping included. Residents can enjoy the many social spaces, join programs, and maintain an active lifestyle while having discreet support available if needed. Supportive Living (Care Available) Residents can access additional care as their needs change, without having to move to another area of the residence. Staff provide assistance with daily activities, mobility, medication, and health monitoring. Couples with different care needs can stay together, with each person receiving the level of support they require.
Accommodation Options
Residents can choose from studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom suites. Each suite is private, comfortable, and close to amenities on the main floor. The residence features lounges, games areas, a gym, a library, and outdoor gardens. Residents can choose how social or private they want to be. Studio A convenient, comfortable private suite suitable for individuals who prefer a compact living space. 1 Bedroom Provides additional space and privacy with separate living and sleeping areas. 2 Bedroom Ideal for couples or residents who want more room for guests or hobbies.
