About Us
Welcome to the Windsor Place Retirement Residence, your haven of convenience and care nestled in one of Sault Ste. Marie’s newly-renovated historic landmarks. Located in the heart of downtown, it offers breathtaking views of the city’s waterfront and is a short walk to the boardwalk, public library, Seniors Drop-in Centre, and newly-opened Soo Market. Queen Street provides shopping, restaurants, and convenient bus-route access. The Windsor Hotel was originally built in 1895 as a boutique luxury hotel and has a rich history, including hosting Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in 1959. In 1996, Dr. Lou Lukenda acquired the property and transformed it into Windsor Park Retirement Residence. Later, it was repurposed as a student residence by Algoma University in 2010, and in 2023, it was relaunched as Windsor Place Retirement Residence, now serving as an urban senior living community.
