About Us
Sanctuary is an Assisted Living community in Hamilton designed around the Green House Project model, with seven small-house communities located within a seven-storey residence. Each home accommodates a maximum of 12 residents, creating a smaller, family-style environment centred around choice, dignity, and personal relationships. Residents have private suites while sharing their own kitchen, dining room, living and activity spaces, outdoor areas, and other amenities with the people in their home.
Levels of Care
Sanctuary offers Assisted Living with flexible care based on each resident’s individual needs. Personal care can be arranged through bundled monthly packages or à la carte services, allowing support to change over time while residents maintain as much independence and choice as possible.
Accommodation Options
Each of Sanctuary’s seven small-house communities has a maximum of 12 private suites. Four suite layouts are available, including three studio options and a one-bedroom suite. Suites feature natural light, ample closet space, and private three-piece ensuite bathrooms, and residents are encouraged to furnish and decorate their suites with their own belongings.
Studio Suites
Sanctuary offers three studio layouts: Cherry Blossom, Willow, and Maple, with Maple being a smaller version of the Cherry Blossom layout. Each private studio includes a three-piece ensuite bathroom, closet space, and access to the shared spaces and amenities within its small-house community.
1-Bedroom Suites
The Evergreen is Sanctuary’s one-bedroom suite option, providing a separate bedroom along with a private three-piece ensuite bathroom and access to the shared spaces and amenities within the resident’s home.
Support Services
Healthcare professionals are available on-site 24 hours a day, with a 24-hour nursing call bell for emergencies. Each home has dedicated Health and Wellness Assistants and Personal Home Assistants, while Care Coordinators and Medication Nurses are Registered Practical Nurses. Services include personalized assistance with daily activities, medication support, weekly light housekeeping, linen and towel service, personal laundry, transportation to appointments and shopping, and other care that can be customized to the resident’s needs.
Amenities
Each small-house community has its own modern kitchen, dining room, TV room, library, activity and flex spaces, lanai, outdoor patio, and laundry facilities. Residents also have access to the amenities within St. Elizabeth Village, as well as an on-site wellness spa and hair salon. Secure FOB access is provided, and common spaces are designed with abundant natural light and an open-concept, residential feel.
Activities
Daily social and wellness activities are offered, along with organized outings and opportunities to participate in everyday household life. Residents can choose how they spend their day without set wake-up times or rigid schedules. Activities can include recreation, social events, learning and sharing skills, helping with household routines, and spending time outdoors, with participation based on each resident’s interests and preferences.
Dining
Each small-house community has its own kitchen and dedicated cook who prepares three meals daily, with dietary accommodations available. Breakfast is made to order, and prepared meals and snacks are available throughout the day. Residents can also use the kitchen themselves if they enjoy cooking, and guest meals are available when family or friends visit.
