Independent and Assisted Living at the Sunshine Centre

Our Sunshine Centre, a five-storey licensed retirement residence, features 148 private suites, ranging from compact studios to spacious two-bedroom layouts. Each suite is designed for comfort and convenience, with access to all the indoor and outdoor amenities our campus offers.

Independent Living Services Include:

• Three daily meals served in the dining room

• Refreshments available throughout the day

• Weekly housekeeping with linen and towel service

• Wireless emergency response pendant

• Social and recreational programs across campus

Assisted Living Services Include:

• All services included in Independent Living

• Assistance with daily living (dressing, bathing, etc.) from Personal Support Workers

• Medication administration by Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs)

• Weekly personal laundry

• Daily bed making and garbage removal

Residents benefit from a multidisciplinary wellness team that includes RPNs, PSWs, a Social Worker, Music Therapist, Registered Kinesiologist, and an on-site Physician. Additional wellness services are available through partnerships with local healthcare professionals.

Memory Care – Parkview Suites

The Parkview Suites, located on a secure Memory Care floor within the Sunshine Centre, offer dedicated support for residents living with dementia. Designed for safety, comfort, and dignity, the environment promotes independence while ensuring appropriate care is always close at hand.

Memory Care Features:

• 33 private studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom suites (ideal for couples)

• Private bathrooms with walk-in showers, grab bars, and comfort-height toilets

• Secured access with wander alert bracelet and optional emergency pendant

• Daily assistance with activities of daily living

• Medication management by RPNs

• Support with toileting, continence, showers, and nighttime checks

• Daily housekeeping and personal laundry

• Portering to meals and events

• Specialized programs 7 days per week by Therapeutic Recreation staff

• Evidence-based dementia programs including Music and Memory and LIVING the Dementia Journey

Care is provided by a compassionate team that includes an RN, RPNs, PSWs, Red Seal Chef, Chaplain, Kinesiologist, Social Worker, and Music Therapist.
