About Us
Highview Lucan is a private intergenerational home located on Main Street in Lucan, Ontario. The community brings together seniors and adults of different ages and abilities, offering Retirement Living, Dementia Care, and Supported Independent Living within one home. Levels of Care
Highview Lucan offers Retirement Living, specialized Dementia Care, and Supported Independent Living for adults with developmental disabilities, autism, and other forms of neurodiversity. Retirement Living includes up to 1.5 hours of daily support per suite, while Dementia Care is provided in a secure second-floor neighbourhood designed specifically for people living with dementia. Respite and short-term stays are also available.
Accommodation Options
Residents live in private suites with accessible ensuite bathrooms. Retirement Living accommodations include studio, larger studio, and one-bedroom plus den layouts. Suites are integrated into a shared-home environment with access to common living spaces, dining areas, and outdoor gardens.
Support Services
Dedicated staff are available 24/7, with individualized support designed around each resident’s routines and preferences. Retirement Living includes up to 1.5 hours of daily support per suite, which may include personal care, medication administration and management, help with dressing and daily routines, and regular check-ins. Residents may also choose to roster with Highview’s family physician, who provides regular in-home visits. Additional or one-to-one support can be discussed if a resident’s needs change. Dementia Care is relationship-centred and provided within a secure environment designed to support wayfinding, independence, and familiar daily routines. Staff use approaches such as cueing and redirection while taking time to understand each resident’s history, preferences, routines, and interests.
Amenities
Highview Lucan is designed as a smaller, home-like community with shared living spaces and outdoor gardens. The secure Dementia Care floor incorporates thoughtful lighting, colour contrast, clear sightlines, smaller gathering spaces, and other design features intended to support comfort, navigation, and independence.
Activities
Activities are integrated into the natural rhythm of daily life rather than following a rigid schedule. Residents can participate in programs within the home as well as familiar everyday activities such as setting the table, folding laundry, watering plants, listening to music, and sharing stories. Residents can choose how involved they would like to be, with an emphasis on maintaining interests, routines, independence, and meaningful connections.
Dining
Residents receive three daily meals served in a bright shared dining room. Breakfast is offered à la carte, while lunch and dinner each include two entrée choices with linen and table service. Specialized dining support is available when needed, and meals are included as part of the Retirement Living service package.
